An inmate at the Genesee County Jail allegedly damaged the phone system in April, according to the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials say 31-year-old Kevin Waleski of Batavia plugged the toilet in his holding cell causing a flood.

The water ended up in the basement of the jail and shorted out the phone system.

Waleski is charged with criminal mischief.

On Monday he was arraigned in the Batavia City Court on Monday.

Waleski remains at the Genesee County Jail without bail.
