Buffalo man, 19, sentenced to 15 days in jail for attempting to rob juvenile through app

A 19-year-old Buffalo man has been sentenced to 15 days in jail and five years of probation after attempting to rob a juvenile victim after making contact through th app “OfferUp”. 

As part of his probation requirements, Jose Michel must also complete 100 hours of community service and write a letter of apology to the victim. 

According to the Erie County DA’s Office, Michel admitted that in Oct. 2017, he and co-defendant Jerwan Stone III, 21, attempted to rob the juvenile after the victim went to Tremaine Avenue in the Village of Kenmore to sell jeans and a pair of sneakers to the defendants. 

Michel pleaded guilty in January to one count of second degree attempted robbery. 

Stone pleaded guilty to one count of second degree attempted robbery in March. He’s scheduled to be sentenced on May 30.
