A Buffalo Police officer shot an armed suspect outside of a McKinley Parkway home Friday afternoon, Buffalo Police have confirmed.
Buffalo Police responded to the call of an armed suspect inside of 660 McKinley Parkway around 4 p.m. When they arrived on scene, police heard shots fired.
The Buffalo Police SWAT and Crisis Management teams also responded to the residence.
Buffalo Police Capt. Jeff Rinaldo said that the suspect fired a couple of rounds inside of the home and at least one outside of the home.
The suspect, described as a 34-year-old male, came out of the home with a woman carrying what appeared to be a 12-gauge shotgun and a struggle ensued, leading to the gun discharging, Rinaldo said.
Police repeatedly asked the suspect to drop his weapon. When he did not comply, an officer shot the suspect, Rinaldo said.
The suspect is believed to have been shot in the abdomen and leg area. He is listed in critical condition at ECMC.
The woman is not believed to be injured. She was taken to ECMC for evaluation.
Buffalo Police will follow standard procedure regarding the officer, who will be placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
The officer is not being identified.
