BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A komodo dragon is now calling the Buffalo Zoo home!

Kadal is the first of his species to reside at the zoo.

“He is about half of the size where he will grow into,” Buffalo Zoo Herpatology Manager Penny Felski says of the dragon, which can reach up to 200 pounds in weight.

He lives in the newly renovated Donna M. Fernandes Amphibian and Reptile Center, which will open on May 24.
