BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo police are warning locals about a phone scam that utilizes the numbers of police districts.
Police say someone is calling people, claiming to be an officer, then telling them to purchase gift cards to avoid being charged with a crime.
Anyone who receives a call like this is asked to hang up and call 911 in order to report it.
