Cameras in Buffalo school zones activated Monday

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Starting Monday, some cameras that track how fast you’re driving in Buffalo school zones will be turned on.

Mayor Byron Brown says you will not be fined for the first month that the cameras are active.

But, if you’re caught speeding after February 6, you will be fined $50.

Buffalo Parking Commissioner Kevin Helfer says “School zones now, by city ordinance, are 15 miles an hour. That’s regardless of if there is a school zone camera there or not. This is all about public safety, as the mayor has said.”
