City’s Smart Sewer project to cut deep into overflows

Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The City of Buffalo’s fifth “smart sewer” on Bailey Avenue is working toward completion.

It’s 75 feet into the ground, about three stories deep, and can hold up to four million gallons of water.

The smart sewers use artificial intelligence to detect when stored water can be released back into the system.
