One man, one cat dead in Remoleno Street house fire


BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo Fire says a 66-year-old man is dead following a fire Thursday afternoon at 18 Remoleno St.

Officials say they responded to the call just after 4:30 p.m., and the first arriving companies encountered heavy smoke and fire on the second floor of the home.

Firefighters removed the man from the second floor, and first responders treated him at the scene for burns and smoke inhalation. He died shortly thereafter fire officials say.

Authorities estimate the damage at $175,000, and the Red Cross is assisting three adults and four children.

Officials tell News 4 one cat was rescued, but another died during the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
