Buffalo police respond to 3 early morning shootings; 2 were fatal


BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The early morning hours in Buffalo were violent, as police in the city say they responded to three shootings within an hour.

First Shooting

The first shooting took place at 1:20 a.m.

Police responded to Shepard St. and found a 22-year-old man from Hamburg inside an apartment. He had been shot in the leg.

While there, police also noticed a fire on the side porch. Buffalo firefighters were able to get there and put out the flames.

Currently, the victim is at ECMC in stable condition.

Second Shooting

The next shooting took place minutes later at an address on Freund St. A News 4 photographer at the scene took note of a heavy police presence at the scene after the shooting was reported.

Police say multiple shots were fired and a large crowd was seen running away.

The victim, a 28-year-old Buffalo man, died at the scene.

Third Shooting

At 2:18 a.m., police say the last shooting occurred. A 21-year-old Buffalo man was found laying in a driveway after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.

He was taken to ECMC, but later died.
