BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The University at Buffalo announced Thursday they’ve extended their fundraising goal for the ‘Boldy Buffalo’ campaign to $1 billion.
The campaign is designed to raise funds for student support, faculty research, programs that benefit the world and Western New York community.
The original fundraising goal was $650 million. U.B. says they’ve secured over $711 million in campaign funds to date. Those funds have been put to work in the form of over 300 new scholarships and fellowships to help students afford college.
Funds have also been used to welcome newly endowed faculty, campus infrastructure improvements and more.
UB President Dr. Satish Tripathi has set the goal of bolstering the university to the top 25 public research universities in the nation within the next decade. Officials say the Boldly Buffalo campaign is an important factor in striving towards Tripathi’s vision.
“Since its launch, the Boldly Buffalo campaign has had a transformative impact on our university and the many communities we serve,” Tripathi said.
“Now – thanks to the incredible support and engagement of our alumni, campaign volunteers, friends and community partners – we are able to set our sights even higher.”
