BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)–New York State’s plastic bag ban takes effect this Sunday.
Retailers have been preparing to comply with the ban.
It’s been a month since Wegmans made the switch.
They offered a choice, bring your own reusable bags, or buy paper bags for a nickel apiece.
Other stores, including Tops, are making the switch the day the law takes effect.
Shoppers should note that there will still be plastic bags in grocery produce sections. They are not part of the ban.
