LGBTQ Progress Pride Flag raised in Buffalo


BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Elected officials, including Mayor Byron Brown, joined the Stonewall Democrats of WNY Tuesday morning for the raising of the LGBTQ Progress Pride Flag in Buffalo.

Mayor Byron Brown and other city officials joined the Stonewall Democrats of Western New York in raising the Pride flag.

It honors the conclusion of Pride Month and the 51st anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising.

The ceremony took place in Buffalo’s Life Memorial Park, dedicated to those who died of HIV and AIDS.

The president of the Stonewall Democrats of Western New York says Pride is more than just one month.

Councilmember Mitch Nowakowski, who also serves for out and proud on the City’s Common Council, announced he will be issuing a $2,500 grant for LGBTQ youth services.
