Canadian man dead after an early morning crash in Le Roy

An early morning crash left one Canadian man dead and two others seriously injured in the Village of Le Roy.

Police say at 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning a 21-year-old St. Catherine’s man was traveling north on Route 19 in the Village when he failed to negotiate a curve near the intersection of Route 19 and Wolcott Street.

He went airborne and hit a home at 79 Clay Street after striking a concrete island.

Officials on the scene say it took the Le Roy Fire Department nearly 45 minutes to extricate the three victims from the car.

22-year-old Jamel Love of Thorold, Ontario was a passenger in the front seat and pronounced dead at the scene.

Le Roy Ambulance transported a 22-year-old backseat passenger also from Thorold to Strong Hospital.

The driver was transported to Strong via Mercy Flight. 

Both remain in critical condition and names are not being released pending family notification.
