SHERIDAN, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office says a sheriff's deputy was airlifted to ECMC Friday morning after his patrol vehicle was struck by another vehicle in the Town of Sheridan.
According to sheriff's reports, the 29-year-old deputy was driving a marked sheriff's vehicle on Straight Road Monday morning. The other driver, a 36-year-old woman, was driving north on Center Road.
The other driver's vehicle struck the patrol vehicle at the intersection of the roads, causing both vehicles to go off the roadway, sheriff's reports say.
The deputy was taken to ECMC via Starflight with apparent non-life threatening injuries.
The other driver was taken to Brooks Hospital with apparent non-life threatening injuries.
The sheriff's office's Accident Reconstruction Team was called to the scene and the accident remains under investigation.
allmark was operating a marked Sheriff's patrol vehicle on Straight Rd. Szumigala was operating her vehicle north bound on Center Road. Szumigala's vehicle struck the patrol vehicle at the intersecton of these roads. Both vehicles went off the roadway after the collision.
Hallmark was flown by Starflight to ECMC with apparent non life threatening injuries. Szumigala was taken by ambulance to Brooks Hospital with apparent non life threatening injuries.
Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Team was called to reconstruct the accident. The accident remains under investigation.
Sheridan Frie, ALSTAR, County EMS, and Fire Police assisted at the scene.
