A sheriff’s substation has been established at a school in Chautauqua County.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday that a substation has been established at the Pine Valley Central School in South Dayton.
Deputies will use the substation to complete reports, interviews and other law enforcement related duties.
The Sheriff’s Office and Office of Emergency Services will also be able to purchase fuel from the district’s existing system.
Chautauqua County Sheriff Joseph A. Gerace called the situation a “win-win” for both the school district and the sheriff’s office.
It gives deputies a strategic location to work from and at the same time provides a law enforcement presence for the school,” Gerace said.
