Highway officially renamed for Lakewood native killed in Afghanistan in the line of duty

LAKEWOOD, N.Y. (WIVB) — A section of highway through Chautauqua County is now officially named for LCpl. Aaron M. Swanson.

Swanson, a native of Lakewood, was killed in a roadside bombing in Afghanistan while serving in 2011.

Signs with his name will now go up along Route 394.

Swanson is buried in Jamestown.
