BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) 33-year-old Steven Gasiorek is free on certain conditions after being charged Tuesday in a criminal complaint alleging he possessed child pornography.

“You can be anybody you want to be in the virtual world,” said US Attorney James Kennedy, who believes that 33-year-old Steven Gasiorek,  on Instagram, was pretending to be a teenaged girl in California under the Instagram name Lexigurl1050.

A guardian for a boy in Faulquier County, Virginia checked his Instagram account, discovered unusual exchanges with Gasiorek’s account and called Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office, whose detectives obtained search warrants and determined there were two victims,  boys ages 14 and 12 in Virginia and numerous others in New York State.

“This is a case that all came together just like it should because of the diligence of the detectives here in Virginia, and in New York, and the FBI Task Force, there’s another child predator from what we’ve earned may have been doing this for many years in jail now,” said Sgt. James Hartman.

Steven Gasiorek lives in Cheektowaga and has been a substitute teacher, and coach for baseball, football, and basketball at JFK Middle and High School according to James P. Kennedy Jr, US Attorney for the Western District of New York.

“My understanding is that this conduct is believed to have extended over an extended period of time up to perhaps even ten years,” said Kennedy. “At this point, we don’t have any information to suggest that he had physical contact with any of these children directly, sexually. But we do have reason to believe that he did know some of the people with whom he was trading online images.”

The FBI is urging anyone who has information pertinent to Gasiorek or the account LEXIGURL1050 to call the FBI local task force at (716) 843-1616.

The Cheektowaga Sloan Schoool District says Gasioerek has been removed from all school buildings and the district is fully cooperating with police in the investigation.
