Cheektowaga town councilman arrested on criminal contempt, menacing charges

CHEEKTOWAGA,, N.Y. (WIVB) – Cheektowaga Town Councilman Jim Rogowski was arrested Friday night following a domestic incident that occurred on Orchard Park Road in the Town of West Seneca.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m.

Police told News 4 Rogowski was allegedly involved in a road rage accident with his wife and also violated an Order of Protection.

Cheektowaga Police picked Rogowski up at a Cheektowaga around 8 p.m. at the request of West Seneca Police.

He is charged with First Degree Criminal Contempt and Second Degree Menacing.

“Typically it means that there’s an Order of Protection in place or some other court order that allegedly, and again they have to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt, he violated,” explained attorney Barry Covert, who has no connection to this case.

News 4 reached out to the Cheektowaga Town Council and has not heard back.

Rogowski is next expected in court March 13.
