CITY OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB)- A power outage in the the City of Tonawanda, lasted about 2 hours Sunday morning.
Captain Foels with City of Tonawanda Police says about one quarter of the city was affected including the downtown section, Police Station and the “Riverview section “of the City.
An underground line at Fletcher and Gibson St. failed and caused the outage. National Grid has rerouted lines to get power up and running until the problem is fixed. Crews plan to work on the issue until midnight.
A reverse 911 call was sent to all residents via Erie County Emergency Services, notifying them of the outage and to conserve on energy usage. 911 calls during the outage were routed and picked up at the Town of Tonawanda Police headquarters. Four 911 calls were received during the outage.
