A woman has admitted to murdering her mother in Wayne County, prosecutors say.
22- year-old Jasmine Harlee was arrested last year along with three other people for the death of Julie Martin on Jonathan Lane in Ontario.
Deputies said Harlee helped plan her mother’s murder in February 2017 and enlisted 21-year-old Knowledge Couser, 19-year-old Malquan Drayton, and 18-year-old Davontae Devine in a plot to collect a $30,000 life insurance policy.
Investigators said Devine and Drayton hid in a closet and when Martin returned home, they jumped out, scaring her. When Martin fell to the ground, deputies say Devine suffocated her with a pillow.
We’re told Couser later confessed to the crimes.
Harlee will be sentenced on the second-degree murder charge in August. She is expected to serve 20 years to life in prison, prosecutors say.
The other three suspects are still facing trials.
