Despite warmth, Holiday Valley hosts weekend Winter Carnival

ELLICOTTVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) — For Western New York ski resorts, this winter has not been ideal, but thanks to Holiday Valley’s investment in snow-making, there is still enough snow on the ground to ski during Winter Carnival this weekend despite the warm weather we’re expecting.

“Skiing will be best in the morning, when it’s still a little firm,” explained Jane Eshbaugh, the Director of Marketing at Holiday Valley. “It’ll get softer as the day goes on, but yeah there’s plenty of snow out there. We plan to operate probably 12 lifts this weekend and probably 40 some slopes, so there’s a lot of skiing yet to be had.”

Aside from skiing, there will be plenty of fun activities for everyone to enjoy all weekend. This includes fun for all ages, including costume contests, parades, the fan-favorite ‘dummy downhill,’ and a snow bar at the bottom of the mountain.
