Early Monday, a bystander rescued a 30-year-old man from drowning in the Genesee River.
Brandon Buonomo first noticed the man stuck in the cattails by the river. When it became clear that the victim was going under, Buonomo left his bike to get in the water to help. He swam the victim to safety and waited for the authorities, called by Buonomo’s wife earlier on.
“It feels good, I’m just glad he’s safe and that we were able to help him,” Buonomo told our reporter.
No injuries were reported. Firefighters on the scene say they are grateful someone was there to save the day.
