Erie County DA changes memorandum on reporting of sex abuse allegations within Buffalo Diocese

Local News

Erie County District Attorney John Flynn has changed the 2003 memorandum of understanding with the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo.

Previously, it said the diocese was not required to report any allegation of sexual abuse made more than five years after it happened, and more than five years after the victim’s 18th birthday.

Now, the diocese is required to report those allegations.

The Catholic Diocese of Buffalo says Malone will “address concerns regarding the abuse of minors and adults by members of the clergy alongside other important issues” on Monday afternoon.

News 4 will air the conference live on air and on at 2:30 p.m. that day.
