The alert for John Osuch has been canceled. He was found safe in Cortland County after New York State police saw his vehicle being driven on Route 81 south of Syracuse.

He was seen around 10:30 p.m. Police pulled him over and learned that he was a missing person.

Cheektowaga police tell News 4 he was “in good health but was described as confused.” After this, Osuch’s family was notified and he was taken to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center.


CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 79-year-old Erie County man, John Osuch, who reportedly has a cognitive disorder, such as Alzheimer’s or dementia, was reported missing around 8:35 Monday night.

Osuch has been described as a white man, standing 6’1″ tall and weighing about 210 lbs. He is bald and has blue eyes. He was last seen on Bory Drive in Cheektowaga wearing a red USMC baseball cap, gray sweatpants, and carrying a brown wallet.

If driving, his vehicle is a gray 2021 Chevy Trax SUV with New York license plates, reading “BDS-9744.”
