BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Driving bans in all of Erie County have been lifted.

A driving advisory remains in effect in areas where the ban has been lifted. To assist with traffic control and ticketing, New York State and military police members are being brought to the area, Poloncarz announced Tuesday morning.

In a Wednesday press conference, Poloncarz announced that the driving ban in the City of Buffalo will remain in effect until at least 9 a.m. Thursday as crews continue the cleanup from the deadly blizzard. It actually ended up ending earlier, just after Midnight Thursday.

The Town of Tonawanda and Village of Kenmore had previously announced they would lift their driving bans starting Monday at 7 a.m. Orchard Park and West Seneca downgraded their driving bans to advisories on Monday.

The Town of Amherst lifted their travel ban at 7 p.m. Monday and replaced it with a travel advisory. A parking ban will remain in place 24/7 after the ban is lifted.

Cheektowaga and Lackawanna’s travel bans were downgraded to advisories on Tuesday morning.

Highways

NITTEC reported Tuesday morning that many major highways, including I-290, Routes 400 and 219 and the Peace Bridge into the U.S. had reopened. NITTEC is also now listing I-90 as reopened.

As of Thursday morning, there weren’t any more major road closures in western New York.
