Another family in the queen city has a new place to call home.
It’s thanks to habitat for humanity. The new build on Busti avenue was dedicated Saturday morning.
It’s one of four habitat for humanity houses on the block.
The home is going to a woman from Ethiopia and her family.
She fled her home country as a 16 year old.
She had to live in a refugee camp for years before coming to the U.S. to begin what she calls her
“It means everything especially for kids. It’s a blessing. It’s a dream come true,” said new homeowner, Jamila Abagidi.
Like every habitat home owner, she’s had to put in five hundred hours of sweat equity and she’ll pay back a thirty year zero interest loan.
