A former Erie County Sheriff’s deputy who pleaded guilty last month to beating a woman inside of his South Buffalo home is in more trouble after prosecutors say he has been sending letters to the woman he assaulted from jail.

Dennis McAndrew is accused of sending the letters between June and July, violating a judge-ordered order of protection.

Prosecutors say that because McAndrew, 40, violated the order of protection, the judge is now not required to adhere to the plea deal sentence of three to five years.

McAndrew pleaded guilty to second-degree assault in August.

He’s scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 16.
