(WIVB) - Sen. Patrick Gallivan announced on Friday that he would no longer be a GOP candidate for the seat currently held by Chris Collins.
"It is my honor to represent the citizens of the 59th Senate District. My commitment to them, my colleagues in the Senate majority and most importantly my family take precedent over personal ambition," Gallivan wrote. "I will not be a candidate for the 27th Congressional District at this time."
Collins announced that he would no longer be running for re-election after he was arrested on insider trading charges.
