Indictment in Niagara Falls raid that sickened authorities

Local News

A Niagara Falls man who was the subject of an FBI raid at his apartment home late last year was indicted by a federal grand jury, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.

Jeffrey Richards was, in subsequent court documents, described as both an “improvised explosive device maker” and a “self-proclaimed white supremacist”.

The 28-year-old was arrested and charged in December 2018 after authorities say they found drugs, guns, and and improvised explosive device in the Packard Court apartment.

In the days that followed, 21 of the 39 federal and law enforcement officials who conducted the raid showed various symptoms of illness.

Among the substances seized, according to authorities, were acetyl fentanyl and fentanyl, along with 10 firearms and an improvised explosive device.
