A local 12-year-old track star is now a world record holder.

Jada Kenner is a 7th grader at Tapestry Charter School. She set a world record for her age in the 300 Meter Run at the Indoor State Championships on Staten Island on March 2.

Kenner went through a whirlwind of emotions when she found out she won. She said she is not done.

“Get more world records. I wanna go to new balance, get a world record for that. My age group, more world records for that. Just all the world records I can get. I wanna achieve it,” said Kenner.

The track meet was for high school students. This meant Kenner’s competitors were much older than her.
