BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Rampant gun violence in the first week of September continued on Thursday, this time near a Buffalo Public School.
Buffalo Police Department officers rushed to the scene of a shooting near PS 53, on the 400 block of Woodlawn Avenue. Officers say gunfire rang out just after 10:30 a.m., leaving a 36-year-old man with gunshot wounds.
First responders rushed the shooting victim from the scene to the Erie County Medical Center. Doctors are overseeing the man’s care as he remains in critical condition.
Police in Buffalo have been busy with gun violence throughout the first week of September after responding to four shootings on Tuesday alone.
- An early morning Tuesday shooting just before 2 a.m. on Hertel Avenue injured two.
- A late morning Tuesday shooting at about 11:30 a.m. left a man dead on Niagara Street.
- Afternoon gunfire rang out Tuesday on Broadway at about 3:15 p.m.
- Late Tuesday night shooting leaves man with head injuries on Whitney Place.
