New $2 million roof to be installed on golf dome in Tonawanda

News

The roof over the Paddock Chevrolet Golf Dome in the Town of Tonawanda is expected to be replaced, to the tune of $2 million.

The current roof has been an iconic view for drivers on the I-290 every day for the past 17 years.

The Town of Tonawanda town board voted for a $2.5 million bond, just in case they run into any issues. The Chairman of the Town Board’s Youth, Parks and Recreation Committee, Daniel Crangle, said the fabric takes about two montths to make. The town is going through the same company that made the current roof, ASATI. Construction is expected to start in the Fall, before the snow hits.

Crangle said this is long overdue. Cables on the dome are rusting and breaking, and seams of the fabric are splitting.

“We defintely got our money’s worth from it,” he said. “It’s a good money source for the town.”

There will be a 20-year warranty on the new dome. And with the way they’re making the fabic now, versus two decades ago, Crangle believes they’ll get an even better product this time around.

“It will be a better dome when it’s up and running,” he said.

The Paddock Chevrolet Golf Dome features an indoor driving range, minature golf, a practice bunker, a putting and chipping green, a restaurant and SportZone golf simulator.
