There’s new hope for bringing commercial air service back to the Chautauqua County-Jamestown Airport.

It’s all riding on an application put together with the help of a former Google employee.

Shawn Simpson is now the CEO of Boutique Air. He flies to dozens of smaller cities.

According to County Executive George Borrello, the county and Boutique Air filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation. They’re requesting what’s known as essential air service.

It allows smaller airports to have regular service, often subsidized through the federal government.
