New hotel in Jamestown could mean hundreds of new jobs

A new hotel could mean hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars for the economy in the southern tier.

Our partners at WNY News Now got to take a look inside the new DoubleTree hotel in Jamestown.

The hotel has more than 140 rooms, a pool, restaurant and ballroom.

It was set to open in 2018, but there were multiple construction setbacks because the original building is older.

“Code back then wasn’t like the code today. The building was left empty for a while, so things happen when you leave buildings empty. We wanted to do it right, and when we found the issues, we said we did not want to just cover them up; We wanted to fix the issues,” DoubleTree general manager Brandon Wade.

A grand opening is scheduled for the first week of March. The hotel’s general manager said the event space is already set to hold a number of class reunions and weddings.
