New Mexican spot in Snyder plans Cinco de Mayo grand opening

Local News

There’s a new Mexican restaurant in town- and it will host its grand opening on Cinco de Mayo.

Diego’s Modern Mexican Lounge has opened in the Main Street space previously occupied by Don Agave.

The restaurant has held a soft opening since April 24- and people have been taking notice .

“They’ve been very curious- peeking through the windows,” managing partner Gabby Arango said. “A lot of people come in to see the vibe and feel before they come in to try our food.”

The vibe matches the restaurant’s name, with an upscale feel subdued colors, and a brightly colored portrait of Mexican icon Selena Quintanilla.

“What we’re trying to bring over here is another Mexican restaurant but more of a modern vibe,” Arango said. ‘This is more of an upscale restaurant- we’re trying to have vibes that people can just come, relax, have drinks after work.”

The menu features Western New York Mexican staples like chimichangas, carne asada tacos, and fajitas- plus authentic Mexican dishes.

“We’ll have a separate menu that’s going to make us completely different, bringing the tastes from Guadalajara, Mexico,” Arango said. “It’s going to be dishes that are very, very authentic. All of our sauces are made right here, we make everything from scratch.”

Some of the restaurant’s partners also own El Ranchito in Clarence.
