BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A new statue on the waterfront is marking an important moment in Buffalo’s history.

The survey monument is placed at the original end of the Erie Canal. It can be found along the replica canals near the new Explore & More Children’s Museum.

The statue signifies the end of the 363 mile-long canal that turned Buffalo into one of the most important cities on the East Coast.

More things like this are in the works, leading up to the bicentennial of the canal’s completion in 2025.
