BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — He may be busy with training camp, but Rex Ryan has officially been challenged to take the dog biscuit challenge.
News 4’s Teresa Weakley took a few minutes to gobble down one of the tasty treats in the name of charity to the Erie County SPCA on Monday afternoon at News 4 at Noon. Barbara Carr explained in further detail why the SPCA is holding the challenge.
Carr compared the challenge to the ALS ice bucket challenge — a popular challenge which raised millions in the fight against ALS.
“We’re raising money for our Paws in the Park fundraiser, which is our biggest fundraiser of the year,” Carr said. “And we thought this year we would challenge our friends to donate to the cause, eat a biscuit or both.”
Weakley challenged Buffalo Bills Head Coach Rex Ryan to complete the dog biscuit challenge soon after consuming a biscuit of her own.
“These are not that bad,” Weakley said. “I don’t see what all of the fuss is about!”
Carr told News 4 social media has been instrumental in getting the word out.
“I can look at how many views mine had, how many shares there were, and then looking at the people who shared it, how many views they had and it just, it really allows us to get the word out really quickly and hopefully have a lot of people jump on board and make this a great success,” she said.
The SPCA of Erie County wants to get the message all the way to Hollywood! They’re hoping Ellen DeGeneres and Betty White accept their challenge!
An important reminder: not all dog food is safe for human consumption. Be sure to read the label before eating any dog biscuit. If it’s not safe to eat, it will say so on the package.
