NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Niagara Falls woman will spend the next 25 years behind bars for the death of a 3-month-old girl.

Samantha Klein admitted to manslaughter in October in the death of Alaya Foster.

Police say Klein had been watching Alaya when the baby suffered blunt force trauma to the head.

Alaya’s grandmother spoke to News 4 today outside of court.

“I’m more upset my sone wasn’t ever able to meet her, or be here to see any of this going on. He’s going to be deprived of his daughter. He never got to see her. It’s never going to bring her back. I’m glad she got 25 years. It’s still not enough, but I’m glad with the results of the case,” Krystal Dusen said.

Niagara County District Attorney Caroline Wojtaszek added, “This was a very emotional case for the family and this became an emotional case for the community of Niagara Falls. I received more calls about seeking justice than I have in most cases.”

Klein was also sentenced to five years of post-release supervision.
