Niagara Falls double shooting victim counts his blessings from hospital bed

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Niagara Falls man continues recovering in the hospital Tuesday after being involved in a double shooting over the weekend.

Niagara Falls Police say two men were shot outside a bar on Cayuga Drive Sunday night.

From his hospital bed at ECMC, 27-year-old Sam Musolino is counting his blessings. He talked to News 4 Tuesday night from the hospital through FaceTime.

Musolino said a fight broke out between his friends and the shooter, who he distantly knows, while leaving a bar in Niagara Falls.

The fight quickly turned violent.

"When he went to go pull the gun out on me I went to go grab it from him and that's when he shot me in the chest. The bullet is still in my ribs," said Musolino.

Musolino was shot once in the chest and his friend, 25-year-old Seth O'Harrow was shot in the head.

"The last thing I remember is just getting in the car and I just wanted to get us to the hospital, I just wanted to get us safe," said Musolino.

The tires on their car blew out along the way to the hospital, fortunately, witnesses called for help.

Musolino told News 4 doctors expect him to be out of the hospital within the next week.

O'Harrow remains in critical condition.

"The swelling needs to go down in his brain so they can get in there and get the rest of the fragments out," said Musolino.

Both men have been surrounded by positivity with the community of Niagara Falls rallying around them.

Thousands of dollars have already been raised to pay for their medical bills.

Musolino says he's counting on prayers and a full recovery.

"We had a lot of people supporting us and praying for us and it's just awesome to see what God can do bringing people together. He's (O'Harrow) going to get through this, but we need all the help we can get. I'm going to be fine, I know i'm going to be all right, I know he's going to be fine," said Musolino.

Niagara Falls Police told News 4 the suspect is expected to turn himself in Wednesday morning.

A benefit for the two victims is planned for September 9 at Sammy's Pizzeria in Niagara Falls.
