Olcott Beach will be closed for 2019 due to high waters

OLCOTT, N.Y. (WIVB) - The beach at Olcott Beach will be closed for the season due to extremely high water.

Newfane town supervisor Timothy Horanburg announced the decision Tuesday, saying that the rising water has washed away everything the town did to restore the beach after the historic flooding of 2017.

"Water now covers the entire beach," he said in a statement.

The splash park at Krull Park will be open for the 2019 season.
