ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) — On Thursday, people went to New Era Field to sign a sympathy card for the family of Pancho Billa.

One of the names on that card is well known among Bills fans — defensive tackle Harrison Phillips.

Billa, whose real name was Ezra Castro, was the person who announced that the Bills selected Phillips in the third round of last year’s draft.

Phillips told News 4 that Pancho meant a lot to him, and that they kept in contact right up until Castro’s final hours.

“We kind of had our final goodbye on Monday night,” Phillips said.

The legacy of Pancho Billa will live on, and at this year’s Bills home opener, his life will be celebrated. The home opener will take place on September 22.
