Police looking for ATVs on Buffalo city streets, in parks

Local News

Officers are noticing more and more ATVs in the city, according to the Buffalo Police Department, which issued a reminder on Thursday that the vehicles are illegal when ridden on city streets or in parks.

Citing a recent incident where three or four ATV riders were weaving in and out of traffic, then entered a bustling Delaware Park with families around, police vowed to strictly enforce the law, which says the vehicles can only be used on private property within city limits.

“I don’t care what vehicle you drive, you can’t outrun my police radio,” said Captain Jeff Rinaldo, Buffalo Police Department.

Rinaldo also acknowledged that the vehicles, which  have been spotted more lately in South Buffalo and the northwest district, can also cause damage to parks.

Rinaldo said that the same rules for ATVs apply for dirt bikes.
