Philanthropist and local restaurateur Russell Salvatore is giving back to western New York in a big way.

He says his next big donation is going to Kaleida Health.

Salvatore told News 4 he made a promise to the organization to put $1 million toward the hospitals.

He says the money will be used for getting new TV sets that are free for the patients to watch.

“They have guests at the hospital. They can afford to put the TVs on and that’s a lot of peoples’ homes, and I love giving back. I want to give back to the community that made me successful.  I want to die broke. That’s my dream.

Salvatore says he decided to promise this gift after seeing that patients had to pay to watch TV in a lot of hospitals.
