Schumer: Breweries could lose millions of dollars if government doesn't work faster

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Sen. Charles Schumer came to Buffalo on Monday, calling on the federal government to work faster.

Schumer says that as a result of the 35-day government shutdown, companies like Labatt USA are at risk of losing millions of dollars in profits.

The Senator wants the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau to expedite product approval applications for Labatt and other breweries, distilleries and wineries in western New York.

Schumer says these companies could potentially miss out on selling current, new or seasonal products during the summer months.

Schumer spoke at Labatt Brew House on Perry St. Monday morning, saying that if the federal government does not expedite the process, it could hurt the local economy.
