Some of the best action sports athletes in the world are coming to Buffalo, Friday. Nitro Circus will take over Sahlen Field at 7 p.m.
Professional BMX athlete, Todd Meyn, is a part of the show. He said all the athletes involved are constantly pushing each other to do more extreme tricks. Meyn said he just learned one that no one has ever done before.
“It’s a double back flip 360, no handle,” he said. “So you do two back flips, full rotation, while your hands are off.”
There are athletes that compete in BMX, FMX, scooter, skate and more at the family friendly show.
“We have ramps you can’t really find anywhere else except for Nitro Circus,” Meyn said. “We have one ramp it’s called ‘Moon Booter’ because it sends you to the moon. It’s 12 feet tall, and this ramp is just sending you so much higher than ramps before, which gives you more time in the air, which means you can do crazier things.”
And there’s a fun part of the show where athletes ride down the ramps on items like derby cars, and recliner chairs with wheels. Meyn said there’s only one guy crazy enough to ride on the recliner chair, Jed Mildon. Mildon is also the first BMX rider in the world to do four back flips off one jump.
Multiple athletes in Nitro Circus are X Games medalists.
The co-founder of Nitro Circus, Travis Pastrana, will also be in Buffalo for the show. Meyn said he doesn’t make it to every show, and said it should be exciting with him performing too. Pastrana has 17 X Games medals.
