State funding heading to land trusts for farmland and nature preservation

Western New Yorkers will have more green space to visit thanks to new state funding that will help protect natural resources.

New York State giving it $2.2 million dollars to land trusts statewide through its Conservation Partnership Program.

Locally, the Western New York Land Conservancy received $100,000 and they plan to use the grant to fund a position to aimed at farmland preservation.

“We want to protect more farmland, we’ve been protecting farmland for almost 30 years, and we can do more,” said Jajean Rose-Burney, WNY Land Conservancy.
