Students, volunteers pack bags with materials for abuse survivors

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The SUNY system is telling survivors of abuse that they have their backs.

Students and volunteers packed bags at Alumni Arena on the UB campus Thursday night.

Those bags will go to crisis programs, domestic violence shelters and hospitals.

The materials in the bags will help the survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.

Elizabeth Brady, director of SUNY's Got Your Back, said "It's all items that someone might need if they're seeking shelter in a domestic violence shelter, maybe if they're going into a rape crisis program, it's really nice personal care items, good quality as a sign of respect."

50,000 bags will be distributed across New York.
