ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) – As Stevie Wonder hits the stage at First Niagara Center Thursday night, one of his biggest fans will be in the crowd.

Jason Smith has been inspired by the Soul Legend’s ability to overcome being blind and to live out his dreams.

“He taught me it’s not the disability. It’s what you do with it,” Smith said.

The Orchard Park man has cerebral palsy, but he doesn’t let it stop him.

“Stevie doesn’t think about his disability. That’s very important, because I don’t think about my disability at all” he said. “I have talent. I have determination.”

Once Jason heard Stevie Wonder was going to perform at the First Niagara Center, he wrote a song called, “I wonder.”

His People Inc. Quality Life Coach Gary Spears helped him out.

They posted a video of them performing it on YouTube. He had a goal of reaching 200 shares. Thursday morning he found out, he exceeded his goal.

The video also created a buzz about Smith’s passion for music and love for Wonder. As a result, Live Nation donated tickets for Smith and some of his friends to go to the concert Thursday night.

Smith can’t wait to see where this adventure takes him. “I love being on this ride and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.”

His current dream is to meet Wonder. Nothing has been set up, but who knows, we wonder if it will happen.
