The Buffalo Juneteenth Festival

Local News

The Buffalo Juneteenth festival continues today at MLK Park until 8 p.m. today.

Our own Al Vaughters will be at the Buffalo Association of Black Journalists booth today from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Juneteenth is the oldest known observation of the ending of slavery in the United States. The celebration commemorates the final execution of the Emancipation Proclamation.

The event features live entertainment, arts, vendor’s market, historical exhibits and more.

The City of Buffalo holds one of the largest Juneteenth festivals in the nation. The mission of the Juneteenth Festival of Buffalo, Inc., is to preserve and promote the broad spectrum of African American heritage through education and cultural activities.
