A popular law and order actor got a warm homecoming on Friday in the Queen City.
Local celebrity actor Jesse L. Martin took a walk down memory lane, through the hallways of the former Campus West Elementary School, which is now Buckham Hall on Buffalo State College’s campus.
Martin toured the newly renovated building with college president Katherine Conway-Turner. One of the first things he noticed on his tour was the building's smell.
"It’s kind of amazing, the first thing I notice is that it smells the same," he said "And that's not a bad thing. It’s specific, like cleanser and children.”
Martin says his passion for acting began in elementary school and continued through high school at the Buffalo Academy for the Performing Arts.
“My little artistic life started right in these hallways and it all paid off, it all paid off," Martin said.
He will be speaking during the college’s commencement ceremony on Saturday.
"The students, staff and faculty are all excited to greet you tomorrow during our ceremonies," said Conway-Turner.
Now, that he's home, one of the first things he plans on doing, is grabbing a bite to eat.
"One of the things, I can’t believe how much I miss about Buffalo, is Buffalo’s food," he said. "There’s food here that you would never see. Nobody knows what beef on weck is, you say that to people anywhere outside of New York, or this area, they’re like - What? That doesn't make any sense.
"I don’t care what anybody says, Buffalo has the best pizza from anywhere I’ve ever been."
In addition to Law and Order, Martin has been playing a role in the show The Flash.
